Finding good staff in Broome is hard. The local pool is small, people move on quickly, and traditional recruitment agencies weren’t built for the Kimberley. If you’ve been turning down work, closing early, or just burning out because you can’t find reliable people, visa sponsorship is worth a serious look.
What we do
Industries We Serve in Broome
We work with employers across the Shire of Broome including hotels and resorts, restaurants and cafes, mechanical and trades workshops, childcare and early learning centres, NDIS providers and support services, and construction and civil contractors.
Whether you’re in Broome CBD, Cable Beach, Djugun, or the surrounding Kimberley, if you need staff we’d like to hear from you.
You Don’t Need to Be a Big Company to sponsor.
A lot of Broome business owners assume visa sponsorship is only for large corporations. It’s not. Small businesses, family operations, and local employers can all sponsor workers through the 482 visa, as long as they meet the basic eligibility requirements.
The 482 visa allows you to bring someone in for up to four years. If they work out well, the 186 visa is the natural path to permanent residency. We help with both, and we’ll walk you through what’s involved before you commit to anything.

Why We Don’t Stop at the Visa and recruitment
The biggest reason regional sponsorships fail isn’t the job, it’s everything around the job. Someone arrives in Broome not knowing anyone, can’t find a rental, feels isolated, and is gone within three months. You’re left with a visa cost and an empty position.
We tackle this directly. We prepare workers for what life in regional WA is actually like before they arrive. And once they’re there, we help them get settled properly, accommodation, banking, local connections. That investment in the first few weeks makes a significant difference to whether someone stays.
How We Work
Step 1 – Tell us what you need
A quick call or email is all it takes to get started. Tell us about the role, your business, and what you’ve already tried. We’ll ask a few straightforward questions and let you know honestly whether visa sponsorship is likely to work for your situation.
Step 2 – We find the right person
Once we understand what you’re looking for, we go out and find candidates who actually fit, the right skills, the right attitude, and someone who’s genuinely ready to relocate to regional WA. We screen them so you’re only talking to people worth your time.
Step 3 – We sort the visa
When you’ve found someone you want to hire, we manage the visa application with the Department of Home Affairs. The visa processes involve a fair bit of paperwork and back-and-forth, we handle all of it. You stay across what’s happening but you’re not drowning in it.
FAQs
Do I need to be a large business to sponsor someone on a 482 visa?
No. Small businesses, family-run operations, and sole traders can all sponsor workers. The main things you need are a genuine vacancy, a role on the eligible occupations list, and the ability to pay at least the market salary for the position. We’ll check all of this with you before anything else.
How long does the visa process take?
It varies, but for regional employers it’s generally faster than metro applications. A standard 482 application can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months depending on the occupation and the individual’s circumstances. We’ll give you a realistic timeframe once we know your situation.
Who pays for the visa?
As the sponsoring employer, you cover the visa application costs. These are set by the government and we’ll walk you through what to expect before you commit. You can’t pass these costs on to the worker — that’s a legal requirement under Australian immigration law.
What if the person doesn’t work out?
It happens. If someone leaves or doesn’t work out within a reasonable period, we’ll work with you on finding a replacement. We’ll be upfront about our replacement policy when we start working together.
What roles can be sponsored in Broome?
Quite a few. Common ones in the Broome area include chefs and hospitality workers, mechanics, childcare workers, disability support workers, and trades. The full eligible occupations list depends on which visa pathway we’re working with. Give us a call and we can check your specific role quickly.
What does Melting Pot actually charge?
We charge a referral fee when a placement is made and the worker starts. Nothing is owed before that point. We’ll be clear about the fee structure in our initial conversation.
I’ve tried recruiting locally and can’t find anyone. Will this actually work?
Possibly, yes. That’s the honest answer. Visa sponsorship isn’t a guaranteed fix, but if your role is on the eligible list and you’re willing to go through the process, it opens up a much larger talent pool than what’s available locally in Broome. It’s worth a conversation to find out.
